On March 18-22, 2024, as part of the Polish Barcode of Life and Biodiversity Genomics Europe, colleagues conducted the first international DNA barcoding course using the Oxford Nanopore Technologies method (third-generation high-throughput sequencing). The course was attended by 12 people from institutions representing 5 countries (Portugal, Great Britain, Poland, Hungary, Croatia) and was introduced to the subject by six of our instructors. Participants learned both theoretical issues and carried out a full cycle of analysis of the biological materials they brought, from DNA extraction, through amplification of the molecular marker, its sequencing and quality control of the obtained DNA sequences. Intensive work during daily classes allowed participants to obtain DNA barcodes for over 1,000 animals from different parts. It was therefore a very fruitful week! We congratulate both the course participants and instructors on their success!
